NeuLash Lash Serum Review

Brand & Product Overview

NeuLash is the flagship lash enhancing serum from Skin Research Laboratories (SRL), a US-based cosmeceutical brand. NeuLash has been available since approximately 2011–2012 and is sold through Nordstrom, Neulash.com, and Amazon. SRL is also behind the NeuBrow brow serum, and the NeuLash formula shares significant formulation architecture with the Borboleta Lash Serum — both products use the same ICP-based core formula with Octapeptide-2, Copper Tripeptide-1, Pumpkin Seed Extract, Pantethine, and Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans.

💊 ~$85 / 3.2 mL = ~$26.56 per mL · Available at Nordstrom & Amazon

The brand markets the product around "Active Eyelash Technology® (AET)" — a blend of peptides, vitamins, and conditioning ingredients designed to improve lash appearance. The AET branding highlights Biotin, Panthenol, Octapeptide-2, and Pumpkin Seed Extract. ICP — the prostaglandin driving the actual lash growth mechanism — is not highlighted in the marketing language.

ℹ️ Shared Formula with Borboleta Lash Serum

The NeuLash formula and the Borboleta Lash Serum share identical core ingredients: ICP, Octapeptide-2, Copper Tripeptide-1, Pumpkin Seed Extract, Pantethine, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Rhizobian Gum, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Sea Water, Chlorphenesin, and Sorbic Acid. Borboleta adds premium actives (Apple Stem Cells, EGF analogue, Keratin) not present in NeuLash. Both products appear to come from the same contract manufacturer or licensing relationship.

⚠️ ICP Safety Alert: Confirmed at INCI Position 17

🚨 SCCS/1680/25: Isopropyl Cloprostenate (ICP) "Cannot Be Considered Safe"

The NeuLash Lash Enhancing Serum contains Isopropyl Cloprostenate (ICP) at INCI position 17, confirmed across the declared EU and US ingredient lists (Incidecoder, SkinSafe, Nordstrom product labelling).

The EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety published Opinion SCCS/1680/25 on February 2, 2026, concluding that ICP "cannot be considered safe" as a cosmetic ingredient due to the risk of serious, potentially irreversible ocular adverse effects via FP receptor activation.

Health Canada banned ICP from the List of Permitted Cosmetic Ingredients in 2019. The FDA has issued warning letters regarding the ICP class. Consumers in Canada cannot legally import or purchase ICP-containing cosmetics.

Side Effects

The NeuLash side effect profile is driven by ICP — the prostaglandin F2α analogue at position 17. All the following effects are attributable to ICP's FP receptor mechanism, not the other actives:

Iris Pigmentation

Permanent darkening of blue, green, or hazel eyes through FP receptor-mediated melanogenesis in iris melanocytes. Non-reversible after stopping the serum.

Periorbital Fat Atrophy

Reduction of orbital fat volume through FP receptor activation of lipolysis. Creates a sunken, hollowed appearance around the eyes.

Eyelid Hyperpigmentation

Darkening of the upper eyelid skin at the lash line, particularly in darker skin tones.

Sulcus Deepening

Change in upper eyelid contour resulting from fat volume loss — may appear as premature ageing of the periorbital area.

Ocular Irritation

Burning, redness, tearing, photophobia, blurred vision. More common in contact lens wearers or those with pre-existing dry eye.

Glaucoma Medication Interference

FP receptor cross-reactivity can reduce the therapeutic action of prostaglandin glaucoma eye drops (latanoprost, bimatoprost, travoprost) in patients being treated for glaucoma.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does NeuLash contain prostaglandins?

Yes. NeuLash contains Isopropyl Cloprostenate (ICP) at INCI position 17, confirmed on the product label and cosmetic ingredient databases including Incidecoder and SkinSafe. ICP is a synthetic prostaglandin F2α analogue that activates the FP receptor — the same pathway as bimatoprost (Latisse). SCCS/1680/25 (February 2026) classifies ICP as "cannot be considered safe" in cosmetics. Canada banned ICP in 2019.

What are the side effects of NeuLash?

Due to ICP, NeuLash carries risk of iris pigmentation (permanent darkening of coloured eyes), periorbital fat atrophy (sunken eye appearance), eyelid hyperpigmentation (skin darkening), upper eyelid sulcus deepening, ocular irritation (burning, redness, blurred vision), and potential interference with prostaglandin glaucoma medications. Some effects (especially iris pigmentation and fat atrophy) may be irreversible after stopping the serum.

Is NeuLash banned in Canada?

Yes. NeuLash contains ICP (Isopropyl Cloprostenate), which Health Canada removed from the List of Permitted Cosmetic Ingredients in 2019. Importing or selling ICP-containing cosmetics in Canada is not permitted. Canadian consumers should use a prostaglandin-free alternative such as Toplash, Plume Science Elite, Kosas GrowPotion, or Typology L37.

How much does NeuLash cost?

NeuLash retails at approximately $85 for 3.2 mL at Nordstrom and Neulash.com, equating to approximately $26.56/mL. A 1 mL sample size is also available. At $26.56/mL it is one of the most expensive lash serums reviewed — more expensive per mL than Toplash ($16.63/mL) while carrying ICP safety concerns that Toplash does not.

Who makes NeuLash?

NeuLash is manufactured and sold by Skin Research Laboratories (SRL). SRL also produces NeuBrow. The NeuLash formula shares identical core ingredients with Borboleta Lash Serum — including ICP, Octapeptide-2, Copper Tripeptide-1, Pumpkin Seed Extract, Pantethine, and the same preservative system — suggesting a shared manufacturing or licensing relationship between the two brands.

Does NeuLash contain parabens?

No. NeuLash is paraben-free, using Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, and Sorbic Acid as preservatives. However, the paraben-free status is secondary to the more significant safety concern of ICP (Isopropyl Cloprostenate) at INCI position 17, which is classified unsafe by SCCS and banned in Canada.

How does NeuLash compare to Toplash?

NeuLash contains ICP — classified unsafe by SCCS/1680/25 and banned in Canada. It costs ~$26.56/mL. Toplash is prostaglandin-free with three dedicated growth peptides (AT-3 + BTP-1 + MP-17) independently verified at 8 weeks (+52.3% lash length), at $16.63/mL. Toplash is both safer (no ICP, no iris risk) and less expensive, with stronger independent clinical evidence than NeuLash's 4–6 week brand claims.
